Making an Appointment (Archived Info)
The following describes the appointment system that was in place. This information is no longer valid.
'Doctor First Service'
The practice offered a ‘Doctor First Service’. When an appointment was requested, the receptionist would arrange for a doctor to call the patient back at an allotted time.
During the call, the doctor would offer a short consultation to decide the best way to deal with the problem. This could result in advice, a prescription, a referral, a medical certificate, or an appointment with another member of the surgery team. A face-to-face consultation would be offered if the doctor or patient felt it was necessary.

Ongoing Conditions
Appointments for review of ongoing chronic conditions were managed through the same system, with a telephone consultation to arrange a suitable appointment time.
Extended Hours
For patients who had difficulty attending surgery during the week, pre-bookable routine appointments were offered with the doctor on Saturday mornings.
Non-Attendance and Cancellations
Patients were asked to make every effort to attend appointments and to phone at the earliest opportunity to cancel if unable to attend, to allow the slot to be used by another patient.
